Ladies Golf
The Ladies Section welcomes golfers of all standards, from single handicap to absolute beginners.
We have a large and active Ladies Section with over 120 members of all standards. The current Ladies Captain is Shirley Stanton who is supported by her Vice Captain Ingrid Drew and her committee.
We pride ourselves on being a friendly group and new members are always made to feel welcome. We have a committee member, Sandra Healy, whose role is to help and support new ladies by introducing them to other ladies and our mentoring system. All ladies also receive a welcome pack of information about the Club and Ladies Section. We are registered with England Golf ‘Women in Golf Charter’.
Our main competition day is Wednesday with an alternate day on Saturday or Sunday. We organise 18 hole and 9 hole competitions, knock outs throughout the year and have over 30 trophy competitions. We also hold fun competitions particularly in the winter months. Our Club Championship is a 36 hole competition in one day with many prizes for both scratch and nett scores. In addition, there is a Spring and Autumn combined Championship for all players. There are several mixed competitions throughout the season and a midweek stableford open to men and women.
The Ladies Section enters teams in several National and Hampshire County Competitions. We play in the Stoneham Cup, The Hayling Trophy, Legg Bowl, and N. Hants Trophy. Our County delegate, Janet Doel, actively encourages ladies to enter the numerous competitions organised by Hampshire Ladies Golf. We have less competitive friendly matches in Hampshire and West Sussex for ladies and mixed teams. The Club has a reciprocal arrangement with several clubs where a member can play other courses for just a small administration fee.
There are several fun events; the annual coffee morning and fashion show is in March , Ladies Captain day in July is a great fun day with golf, dinner and lots of prizes and our Christmas lunch held in the clubhouse is always a very popular event.
A very warm welcome awaits you.
Shirley Stanton
